Therapy is a quest and an exciting opportunity. The ability to express oneself and live fully in the present grows profoundly with a compassionate witness. Even more so with a committed trained witness who is able to support us when bridging new territory, and challenge and help us across when we are at an impasse. I work with clients on present day challenges; to begin healing from early childhood trauma and experience life from a more present and future oriented perspective.
I offer many tools from body-centered therapies to empower clients to integrate growth and actualize it in their present lives. I value being with clients as they investigate and explore a new felt sense of self. I utilize an attachment-theory based approach, and am trained to work in traditional -modes of verbal counseling. At times, this is just the right form of connection for many clients.
Before becoming a counselor I had a career as a professional dancer and theater artist, I founded a dance company, and I directed a Yoga and Bodywork studio. I am a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist with a specialty in development and am trained in Pre and Perinatal Birth Attachment Therapy. I draw from and integrate all of these backgrounds as sources in my work.
I have worked with clients who are seeking personal growth, who want to deepen their relationships and work through intimacy challenges. I also support clients who are taking risks in their artistic life or may be experiencing creative blocks. I work with clients who are seeking recovery from trauma and PTSD, eating disorders, chronic illness, injury, addiction, anxiety, depression, grief and loss. I specialize in attachment, birth, adoptive, developmental, and prenatal and perinatal issues . I am also passionate about supporting and working with individuals and families with children with special needs.
