“Opportunities to find deeper powers within ourselves come when life seems most challenging.” — Joseph Campbell
Healing unfolds in its own way and at its own pace, which is different for each person. I believe there is an innate and powerful drive toward healing and wholeness in each one of us. My job is to create a safe and emotionally engaged space where your healing drive can operate in its full capacity. We will work together to help you access your inner resources and resilience and to help you feel the full range of emotions that naturally flow through you and lead to healing. By honoring and listening to all the parts of you that show up in the counseling room, we can create the conditions that facilitate change, without having to be pushy or forceful. My goal is to help you move toward a life of passion, vitality, and authenticity.
I have advanced training in Zen meditation, Hakomi,(a body-centered mindfulness based approach to therapy) and AEDP (an experiential therapy grounded in attachment theory and neuroscience). For most of my life, I have focused on helping people improve their physical health with physical therapy, massage and Shiatsu. My journey toward counseling began when I became clear that healing requires attention to both the body and mind. I still have an interest in helping people access the wisdom of their bodies. I am glad, though, for the opportunity to also explore the wisdom of emotions, dreams, intuition and intellect. I am interested in applying the principles of neuroscience and attachment theory to create positive changes in the brain. But mostly I am interested in exploring with you (in the spirit of curiosity and acceptance) what it is that causes you suffering and how we can work together to transform it.
